Meet Tina

Tina Chappell is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach and champion of change. As an entertaining speaker and trainer, she specializes in working with individuals, leaders and teams to help them get out of their own way and create positive, empowering, productive, and respectful work environments.

Since the time she was 12, Tina loved to work behind the scenes as part of the technical team, setting the stage for theatrical performers…and went on to study Technical Theatre at Ryerson University.  She trained in all disciplines of technical theatre but loved her role as Stage Manager the most.  Tina compares this role to the hub of a multi-spoke-wheel and equally liked the connection to the performers and the crew.  And if you think divas only show up onstage, you might be surprised!

Eventually Tina grew tired of the nomadic nature of the business and the distance it took her from her family, particularly her new nephew.  She decided she would move closer to her family and look for work that would provide “steadier” employment.

After additional training, Tina joined Canada Trust in London, Ontario,a stable company with regular hours, family nearby, and she steadily moved her way up the ranks.  But then the unthinkable happened – Canada Trust was sold to TD Bank; and so began a five year roller coaster of mergers and acquisitions…and she was cast back into real comedy/tragedy situation.

Tina knew she had to be in peak performance to keep up with the changes and opted to increase her education and upgrade her skills. With the eventual sale of TD Bank, she realized the new company’s culture was no longer a fit and accepted a position that integrated with Canada Life, a large insurance company.

Canada Life was the breath of fresh air Tina was looking for; a much more compatible culture and she loved her communications’ role.  Once again, Tina found herself working like a hub of a wheel, where clients and other departments were the spokes and her role was a conduit that made it all turn…but it wasn’t to last.  A few weeks short of completing the two-year integration process, the employees were called into a large hotel meeting room, the leading men telling the employees that Canada Life was being purchased by Great-West/London Life.  Exit stage left.  Curtain please!

Tina was grateful that she once again maintained employment when so many others had lost theirs, but she was now on an accidental career path – a player without a script, a musician without an instrument, a stage manager without a stage.  She still had a job, but woke up every day not wanting to go to work.  It was time to listen to the script that her mind and body were delivering.

Tina saw this “message” as an opportunity.  She wanted to be in control of where her career was heading.  She wanted work that was challenging and exciting.  She wanted to wake up every morning looking forward to the day and the work ahead.

In 2009, Tina created a one-woman show after completing an intense coaching course.  She started the course feeling lost, not knowing where she was headed or how to get there.  Through the power of coaching, Tina found herself and her path.

When Tina opened her coaching business, she was able to bring her life’s experiences together.  The passion she felt in her theatre days returned as a passion for coaching.  Her experiences with corporate mergers and uncertainty drive her to help others who are going through what she did.

Tina has the ability to step back from it all and see the whole stage.  She sees that leaders want the best for their teams and that team members want to contribute and be part of something bigger than themselves.  She understands the challenges people and organizations face as they embark on change.  She’s lived it!  Tina also knows the strength of the human spirit, knows what individuals and teams can achieve when they are engaged and feel valued.

Tina is described as passionate and theatrical when she works with teams to create an environment where everyone gets a voice, and everyone gets to be right…at least partially.
